Shapiro: US supports Israel's right to defend itself

US ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro on Sunday expressed solidarity with residents of the South "who continue to be bombarded with missile attacks from terrorist organizations in Gaza."

In comments posted to his Facebook page, Shapiro reiterated American support for "Israel's right to defend itself and its citizens from these attacks" and said that the US's "thoughts are with the residents of southern Israel."
