Six Day War-era munitions found at construction site

Police closed part of Highway 1 in Jerusalem on Wednesday afternoon after construction workers discovered munitions from the Six Day War buried in a construction site.
The munitions were discovered at the intersection of Shmuel HaNavi and Highway 1 in the Beit Israel neighborhood, an area that was the site of tense battles between the Jordanians and the Israelis during the 1967 Six Day War.
The police bomb squad responded to the scene to remove the explosives. Highway 1 was closed to traffic while the bomb squad removed the old mortars, as was parts of Shmuel HaNavi street.
