State to High Court: Reject Galant's appointment appeal

The state prosecution on Sunday requested the High Court of Justice reject the appeal by Maj.-Gen. Yoav Galant regarding the cancellation of his appointment of the next IDF chief of General Staff.

"The government concluded that the appointment is appropriate, and it is therefore unnecessary that the Turkel Committee express its stance," that state prosecution said in response to Galant's appeal.

"The role of the Turkel Committee is to ensure integrity, but while the government itself reaches the conclusion that the appointment is appropriate, it is unnecessary that the committee express its opinion and ensure that the appointment follows the required standards," the state said.
