Steinitz: Cut defense budget by NIS 1.4 billion

Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz presented the proposed budget for the years 2011-2012 on Tuesday.

The new budget will cut the defense funds by NIS 1.4 billion.

Steinitz also said, if approved, the new budget will include higher taxes, and will not expand welfare funds for children. The proposal also recommended encouraging employment of haredi men and Arab women, and sought to lessen the number of foreign workers in Israel.
