Strong earthquake hits Japan, no tsunami warning issued

April 12 - A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 hit eastern Japan on Monday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said, shaking buildings in the capital Tokyo.
The epicenter of the earthquake was off the coast of Chiba prefecture, neighboring Tokyo, the agency said, adding that no tsunami warning had been issued.
