Syrian FM: We won't talk for the sake of talking

Syria will not be willing to waste its time on negotiations with Israel solely for the sake of negotiations, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem said Monday. Speaking to Al-Jazeera, Moallem stressed that once Israel accepted Syria's terms for peace and expressed true political intent, Damascus would gladly join the peace process. During the interview, Moallem cited Israel's refusal to cooperate even with US peace efforts on the Palestinian track, claiming it had refused to accept a settlement freeze and had responded ambiguously to the question of a two-state solution, Israel Radio reported.
