Turkey rescues 3,000 citizens from riots in Libya

Turkey evacuated about 3,000 of its citizens from Libya early Wednesday, amid violent anti-government protests raging in the North African country, reported Reuters.
Two Turkish ferries departed from ports in Benghazi, each carrying about 1,500 people, and were escorted by a Turkish frigate, Reuters said, quoting a statement by Turkey's foreign ministry.
According to officials, there are some 25,000 Turks in Libya. Turkey's navy plans to send two more ships to Libya for further evacuations, according to Reuters.
