Turkey threatens to reduce diplomatic presence in France

PARIS - Turkey's ambassador to France said on Monday Ankara may reduce its diplomatic presence in Paris to charge d'affaires and said the decision to pass a law making the denial of genocide illegal would rupture relations between the two NATO allies.
Asked if he would be returning to Turkey after the vote was announced, Tahsin Burcuoglu told reporters: "Most probably. It will be diplomacy on charge d'affaires (level), not embassies."
Charge d'affaires is the lowest rank of diplomatic representative recognized under the Vienna convention on diplomatic relations.
Burcuoglu said Turkey would never accept such a law. "You can imagine everything and anything because it's a sensitive issue for Turkey. Now everybody will pay some price including Turkey, France and Armenia," he told reporters.
