Turkish prime minister: We must be careful with sanctions against Iran

Turkish prime minister

Turkey's Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday urged caution over new sanctions against Iran, and said he plans to discuss the Islamic republic's nuclear program with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Teheran in October, Reuters reported. Sanctions "won't bring about anything good for the people [of Iran]. So I think we have to be careful," Erdogan was quoted as saying. Asked if his country would support new UN Security Council action against Iran, the Turkish premier reportedly said that: "Without seeing what would be in the resolution, it's difficult to say. We would look at the text and we would make our contribution and then we would make a decision."
