US climate envoy: China seeks top US technology

The chief US climate negotiator says China is seeking to get the best US technology as part of a new deal on global warming. Jonathan Pershing was part of a US delegation that recently returned from meeting China's vice premier and officials involved in climate change in Beijing. An understanding between the world's two biggest polluters is seen as essential for reaching a global climate change deal. Pershing told Public Radio International on the sidelines of UN climate talks Thursday that China was open to taking action to control greenhouse gases in exchange for US technology. But he says China advanced systems that are part of America's intellectual capital.
