US Senator John Ensign to resign amid ethics probe

US Senator John Ensign of Nevada on Thursday announced that he will resign in the wake of an ethics investigation into an extramarital affair he confessed to have had in 2009, AP reported.
Ensign insisted he has done nothing wrong, but said he did not want to subject his family to further investigation.
The senator said in a statement that he will send US Vice President Joe Biden a letter on Friday to make the resignation official.
