Rabbis should not be interfering with IDF matters, Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilna'i said in a closed-door meeting Thursday. Vilna'i added that he hoped hesder rabbis would not allow "a few stray weeds to weaken the relationship with the IDF." Dozens of hesder rabbis and teachers from across Israel signed off on a letter Thursday that, among other things, stated that "loyalty to God takes precedence over all other loyalties, including the army."
