Welfare Ministry launches new website for the blind

The Welfare and Social Services Ministry launched a new website for the blind and visually impaired on Tuesday. The new accessible website, a joint collaboration between the ministry’s service for the blind and the information technology department, will provide all the rights and relevant services available to the blind and visually impaired population in Israel and their families.

The site also contains common questions and answers, statistics regarding the blind population in Israel, information about diseases that can cause blindness, relevant government forms and provides contact information for relevant organizations across a variety of fields.

According to the ministry, the site was built according to the highest standards for accessible websites and is suitable for accessibility programs for the blind including audio playback and braille. The website will also be translated into Arabic in the coming month.
