Yacimovich rivals force secret ballot vote in Labor

Labor leader Shelly Yacimovich's three challengers succeeded on Wednesday in drafting the 600 signatures among the 1,800 Labor central committee members needed to force a secret ballot vote in Friday's Labor convention.
The convention will decided between Yacimovich's proposal to hold a leadership race November 21 and no membership drive and a proposal by MKs Erel Margalit, Isaac Herzog, and Eitan Cabel to hold a three-month drive ahead of a March 25 election.
The secret-ballot vote enables central committee members to vote without fear of angering Yacimovich, who controls the party's funding in the October 22 municipal race in which many of the members are running.
