Yesh Atid opposes referendum on peace treaties

The Yesh Atid party on Monday said that it opposes a referendum on peace treaties with the Palestinians.
Economy and Trade Minister Naftali Bennett is pushing for the government to pass a Basic Law requiring a referendum before any peace treaty with the Palestinians is signed.
MK Shay Piron (Yesh Atid) explained that the party's decision is based on technical reasons, since there are currently no peace negotiations.
"Making a decision [on whether or not we need referendum] out of the blue is not the right thing to do," Piron said.
