Joint computing laboratory set to further enhance China’s cloud computing technology efforts.

InfiniBand developer Mellanox Technologies Ltd. and the Beijing computing center will build the Beijing public cloud computing center, a joint computing laboratory that will further enhance China’s cloud computing technology efforts.The 40-gigabit per second InfiniBand-accelerated Beijing public cloud computing center will provide China’s academic and commercial researchers with easy access to a high-performance computing cloud for their multiple scientific applications.Mellanox and the Beijing computing center will collaborate on various research areas in cloud computing, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (Paas), and other usage models of cloud computing for high-performance applications, as well as network security solutions, scalability and efficiency for cloud computing delivery.“We are pleased to partner with the Beijing Computing Center to provide this industryleading application performance to China’s large pool of academic and commercial researchers,” said Mellanox VP marketing John Monson.Mellanox’s share fell 1.2 percent at the opening on Nasdaq today to $22.10, giving a market cap of $749 million. The share price fell 2.3% on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange to NIS 80.99.
