Tech giant Apple has officially confirmed that the newest and most advanced AI version, called GPT-5, will be integrated into the company’s upcoming operating systems for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The announcement means that hundreds of millions of iPhone, iPad, and Mac users will soon benefit from especially advanced AI capabilities as part of Apple Intelligence, a service that combines the system’s features with external AI engines.

The AI will provide improved responses to Siri’s voice commands, analyze images more accurately using technology reminiscent of Google Lens, and assist in text processing, rephrasing, and smart searches. However, at this stage, the system will continue using the GPT-4o model released just a few months ago, while the switch to GPT-5 will only happen when the final versions of the new operating systems reach all users.

According to estimates, Apple will release iOS 26 to the general public as early as next month, in fall 2025, although it has not yet been confirmed whether the GPT-5 version will also be integrated into beta releases for developers or public test versions. Either way, the integration seems to be only a matter of time.

GPT-5, announced by OpenAI, is defined as the most advanced AI model the company has developed so far. It is capable of understanding and responding more precisely to texts, performing complex programming tasks, providing medical support and personal guidance, and even analyzing images and files. The company emphasized that the model is already available to all users, including the free ChatGPT option, as part of the goal to make these capabilities accessible to the general public.

Currently, according to company data, about 700 million people worldwide use ChatGPT weekly—a particularly impressive figure that makes AI more widespread than Siri or Google Assistant. The integration of GPT-5 into Apple’s ecosystem is expected to expand users’ daily usage and strengthen the company’s position in the field of artificial intelligence.

The collaboration between Apple and OpenAI has only been revealed in recent months as part of the launch of the Apple Intelligence service, a platform Apple defines as “the user’s personal AI.” The system aims to integrate smoothly and seamlessly across all device interfaces, from messages to calendar management, from text completion in apps to document analysis. Apple stressed that using ChatGPT requires user permission only, without transferring personal data to OpenAI, and that data is not stored.

With the expected update to iOS 26, users will be able to choose if Siri should rely on GPT-5 when it encounters a question it cannot answer alone. For example, if you ask Siri to craft an original birthday greeting or request an explanation of a photo you took, she can forward the request to the ChatGPT engine and return a smart and precise answer within seconds.

For more advanced users, GPT-5 will also be integrated into the Notes app to draft summaries, the Mail app to suggest alternative phrasing for messages, and even the Pages app for smart document editing and writing. On iPads and MacBooks, there will also be an option to receive custom code for app development and other advanced uses.
