The Metropolitan Police arrested a 37-year-old man on Friday, suspected of being behind the fecal vandalism on seven different Jewish buildings across London.
Police confirmed the resident of Hendon was taken into custody on suspicion of religiously motivated criminal damage in connection with the seven offenses.
Seven community-linked properties, including synagogues, private homes, and nurseries, were smeared with excrement over the past few weeks.
Police maintain presence
Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, responsible for policing the North West Command, said: “This is a significant development in our investigation following substantial CCTV enquiries by officers. We remain in close contact with the local Jewish community as we continue to provide our support and reassurance.”
Police confirmed that they would maintain increased patrols through areas known to have a large Jewish population.
Those with any information related to the incidents are requested to contact the Metropolitan Police and quote 1071/03SEP.
