The Canada Celebrates Israel Network presented members of the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus with a book of 4,000 signatures in support of Israel on Tuesday.
A delegation of 34 CCI Network members, along with the organization’s National Director Rev. Giulio Lorefice Gabeli, brought the book to Deputy Regional Development Minister Ayoub Kara (Likud) and Israel Beiteinu faction chairman Robert Ilatov.
The 4,000 signatories are in agreement with a statement by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper that he will support Israel “whatever the cost.”
Gabeli plans to present Harper with a copy of the book upon his return to Canada, but brought it to the Knesset first because “Israel is first in God’s heart, and it is important to follow the spiritual protocol.”
The Canada Celebrates Israel Network is a grassroots advocacy group made up of Christians and Jews who work to educate the public about Israel and combat anti-Semitism. Two members of Canada’s parliament are members of the Canada Celebrates Israel Network, and other MPs, senators and ministers have supported their campaigns.
According to Josh Reinstein, director of the Christian Allies Caucus, Canada is one of Israel’s strongest allies, due to “grassroots Christian support that has permeated Parliament.”
