Strike a pose, MKs!

New weekly television segment to rank sartorially-challenged and best-dressed MKs.

The days when most MKs would show up to the Knesset in sandals and untucked shirts are long gone (National Union MK Uri Ariel, we’re still looking at you), but plenty of parliamentarians still have a long way to go before they could be called stylish.
The Knesset Channel and the Israeli Fashion Channel, founded earlier this year, have made it their goal to point out the sartorially-challenged and reward the most fashionable in the Knesset.
The two channels have collaborated on a weekly 10-minute segment to be aired on both stations called “Dress Code,” ranking the best and worst dressed each week.
“Dress Code,” which will be aired for the first time on Tuesday at 19:00 on the Fashion Channel and 21:50 on the Knesset Channel, will be part of the Fashion Channel’s “Top Ten” program, which rates local celebrities’ outfits.
Model Moran Gross hosts “Top Ten,” and stylist Lilach Cohen and fashion columnist Chen Avni will help her analyze what MKs are wearing.
Cohen plans to give practical tips on how to look professional when speaking in the plenum, while Avni has a sassier, more sarcastic style.
In a preview of the first segment, Cohen and Avni focused on MK Marina Solodkin (Kadima) dressed in black with a floral blazer.
The busy floral print distracts from Solodkin and is not flattering to her frame, Cohen said.
Avni, on the other hand, said the blazer looks like it is made of sofa upholstery.
Although the Knesset and Fashion Channels have yet to release their best-dressed lists, some likely candidates are MKs Einat Wilf (Independence), Ruhama Avraham-Balila (Kadima), Ronit Tirosh (Kadima) and Orly Levy-Abecasis (Yisrael Beytenu).
The competition will be less predictable between male MKs, many of whom wear suits and ties each day. Some of the more unusual dressers include MK Uri Ariel (National Union), who can be seen  in socks with sandals during the winter, MK Dov Henin (Hadash), who wears jeans, a white button-down shirt and a blazer every day, and MK Shai Hermesh (Kadima), who has a penchant for candy-colored shirts.
