Flu pandemic drill held in Pardes Hanna

A "table-top" exercise examining the state's readiness for coping with a theoretical pandemic of flu of an unknown strain was carried out by the Defense Ministry, along with the Health Ministry and other authorities on Tuesday. Experts met at the Shoham Geriatric Center in Pardes Hanna, and the exercise was run by a crisis management team that included the IDF, the Israel Police and a variety of ministries. Deputy Defense Minister MK Ephraim Sneh, a physician, was in charge. Readiness for the purchase of medications, running the economy on an emergency basis and purchasing equipment for medical teams were among the many topics dealt with during the exercise, whose results will be monitored and whose lessons will be learned, the Health Ministry said.
