Sheba Medical Center was investigating on Friday the death of a 36-year-old man who had a hernia operation there and was examined at the hospital's emergency room on Thursday night after complaining of symptoms.
The man's problem was detected, but he was kept under supervision in the surgical department, the Sheba spokeswoman said on Friday. A few hours later, he was found dead in his hospital bed.
The family and the Health Ministry were informed, and the police were brought in to investigate.
The body was transferred for an autopsy on Friday to the L. Greenberg Institute for Forensic Medicine at Abu Kabir.
