10 dead in northwest Pakistan missile strike

PARACHINAR, Pakistan — Several suspected US missiles destroyed two vehicles and makeshift homes in a tribal region near Afghanistan early Tuesday, killing at least 10 people and wounding four, two intelligence officials said.
The attack happened in the Doga area of North Waziristan, but the identities of the people killed in the attack were not immediately known, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
Some of the victims were in newly constructed homes, while some were in the targeted vehicles, which were traveling over a dusty road in the same area, the officials said.
North Waziristan has been the target of nearly all of about 30 other American attacks this year. In recent months, it has become a new haven for militants who fled a Pakistani army offensive in their previous stronghold, neighboring South Waziristan.
