Afghan, foreign security forces kill several Taliban in Afghanistan

Officials say Afghan and international forces have killed several militants in eastern and southern Afghanistan. The US-led coalition says its forces killed "several militants" during two separate operations Saturday in eastern Khost province and southern Helmand province. The coalition said in a statement Sunday the troops were working with Afghan forces to target insurgents involved in roadside bomb attacks in Khost. In Helmand, the forces were targeting a Taliban operative involved in trafficking weapons and assisting foreign fighters. The Interior Ministry says Afghan and foreign forces killed four insurgents on Friday and Saturday in Helmand and five militants Saturday in eastern Paktia province.
