Austrian conscript convicted of making Nazi salute

An Austrian court has convicted a former conscript of making a Nazi salute on a video shot in army barracks. The Salzburg court sentenced the 20-year-old to nine months probation for raising his right arm and screaming "Heil Hitler" on the video that later surfaced on YouTube. Another former conscript charged with filming the scene using a cell phone was acquitted. The incident occurred in the summer of 2007 in the country's largest barracks on the outskirts of Salzburg. The 20-year-old told the court he was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
