Boy is fifth Brazilian victim in Lebanon conflict

An 8-year-old Brazilian boy was killed in Lebanon, the fifth Brazilian victim of Israel's recent attacks on the country, the Brazilian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday. Bassel Tormos died and his mother and brother were wounded during an IAF attack on Tallousa in southern Lebanon, the ministry said on its Web site. It gave no further details. The ministry said the government was "gravely concerned" about the death of young Bassel Tormos. Brazil "again condemns the disproportionate military retaliation by the Israeli government, that has cost innocent lives," the ministry said. A Brazilian Air Force jet arrived in Lebanon to bring 122 Brazilian tourists and Lebanese family members back to Brazil. Lebanese immigrants settled widely in Brazil, which is home to the largest Lebanese community outside of Lebanon, estimated at 9 million.
