By JERUSALEM POST STAFF
Britain is preparing to send 600 soldiers to Kosovo for NATO peacekeeping duty.
Defense Secretary Des Browne said Tuesday that the soldiers from the 2nd Battalion The Rifles would be going to Kosovo in May.
Britain is responsible for providing NATO's standby reserve force for the Balkans for the first six months of this year.
NATO has had peacekeepers in Kosovo since the end of the 1998-99 war there between Serbian forces and ethnic Albanian separatists. Kosovo declared independence from Serbia on Feb. 17.
