Bush brushes off criticism from Senate leader

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Monday that President George W. Bush is in a state of denial over Iraq, "and the new Congress will show him the way." Bush brushed aside the comment and remained firm in opposing timetables for US troop withdrawals. "I believe strongly that politicians in Washington shouldn't be telling generals how to do their job," Bush said at the White House after meeting with Army Gen. David Petraeus, commander of the Iraq war. "I believe artificial timetables for withdrawal would be a mistake."
