Chavez calls Obama 'ignorant,' says US president has much to learn
By JERUSALEM POST STAFF
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has called US President Barack Obama "ignorant," saying he has a lot to learn about Latin America.
The Venezuelan leader said he had been ready to name a new ambassador in Washington when Obama took office. But Chavez said he put that on hold after the new US president accused him of being an obstacle to progress in the region and "exporting terrorism."
Chavez brought up Obama on his weekly broadcast Sunday. He said, referring to Obama, that "at least one could say, 'poor ignorant person.'"
The Venezuelan leader said Obama "should read a little bit so that he learns about ... the reality of Latin America."
