Rescuers on Sunday found the bodies of three people who were swept out to sea by violent waves triggered by a strong earthquake along a fjord in southern Chile.
While there was no tsunami, Saturday's 6.2-magnitude earthquake apparently set loose avalanches that crashed into the narrow inlet, creating 8-meter (26-foot) waves.
The roaring water destroyed boats, uprooted trees and overwhelmed beachgoers. Seven people remained missing. Police Maj. Claudio Escobar said the search would continue "until everybody has been found."
The government's Emergency Bureau identified the three bodies as Ernesto Contreras, 65; his wife, Elsa Poblete, 54; and their grandson Genaro Linay. They were found in Aysen Fjord, near the epicenter of the quake.
