Envoys from the US, Japan and South Korea said that any breakthrough in talks over North Korea's nuclear program depended on the response Monday from Pyongyang.
The negotiations have entered a fifth day in China's capital but so far have failed to overcome disagreements on energy assistance to the North in exchange for it giving up its nuclear program.
"It is up to the North Koreans. We have put everything on the table. We have offered a way forward on a number of issues. They just need to make a decision," US Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill told reporters.
His comments were echoed by South Korean Assistant Foreign Minister Chun Yung-woo, who said a resolution "depends on what kind of position North Korea will bring to the talks," and Japanese envoy Kenichiro Sasae, who said "the agreement hangs greatly on the response, or final answer, that North Korea brings today."
