Gates: US has no intention of freeing 5 Iranians

US and Iraqi officials are working to give Iran access to the five Iranians being detained by American forces in Iraq, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday. He did not link the move to the Britons' release. Gates said the US has no intention of releasing the five. Gates said a visit from Iranian diplomatic authorities is not required, but that "Iraqi government officials and US officials are discussing if there's some way, perhaps, that there could be some kind of Iranian access to them."
