Helicopter with 18 passengers crashes off Newfoundland

A helicopter heading to the Hibernia offshore oil platform carrying 18 people crashed in the Atlantic Ocean off Newfoundland on Thursday. Gerry Grychowski of the Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax said two people had been spotted in the water, as well as a life-raft, but that there was no sign of the chopper. A Hercules aircraft and four Cormorant rescue helicopters were on their way to the site, as well as a coast guard ship and a supply ship.
