Iceland condemns IDF's operation in Gaza

Iceland on Tuesday condemned the IDF's operation in Gaza, stressing that such action would inevitably harm the civilian population. "Such a use of overwhelming force places a responsibility on the international community to intervene and to send a peacekeeping force to the area," said the country's foreign minister, Ingibjorg Solrun Gisladottir, in a statement, adding that she regretted the lack of unity in the UN Security Council on the issue. "The Security Council is responsible for international peace and security and the situation in Gaza demands that the international community, led by the UNSC, fulfills its responsibilities under international law," said Gisladottir.
