Moderate earthquake rattles western Bulgaria

A moderate earthquake has rattled western Bulgaria, without any immediate reports of injuries or damage. The quake, with a preliminary magnitude of 3.6 struck at 2:46 p.m. (1246 GMT) Monday and was registered by the Civil Defense agency. The tremor's epicenter was 80 kilometers (50 miles) south of Sofia, the capital, and felt as far away as the southern city of Blagoevgrad.
