Militants in one of Pakistan's most volatile regions, where Taliban and al-Qaida insurgents operate, announced on Sunday that they were breaking a 10-month old peace deal with the government.
A document, passed out in the bazaar of this main town in North Waziristan, said the agreement was being terminated because government forces had attacked the militants, failed to pay compensation to those harmed and created problems at check points.
The document's authenticity was verified by a militant spokesman, Abdullah Farhad, who called journalists in the main northwestern city of Peshawar.
