Suspected Islamic fighters fired rockets and kidnapped four policemen on Sunday from a security post in northwestern Pakistan, a tribal region where al-Qaida- and Taliban-linked operatives are believed to operate, a security officer said.
More than 20 armed men, wearing masks, stormed a roadside police post before dawn in the Bajur region, on the border with Afghanistan, and abducted the four policemen, said Yar Mohammed, a security officer in Khan, Bajur's main town.
Before the kidnapping, two rockets were fired at the Bajur Levies, a tribal police force, that shattered windows and damaged a wall of the building, Mohammed said.
