Report: UN's Kofi Annan arrives in Tehran

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan arrived in Tehran on Saturday for talks with Iranian leaders dominated by Iran's disputed nuclear program, the official IRNA news agency reported. The visit comes two days after Iran failed to meet a UN deadline for suspending its enrichment of uranium, paving the way to possible sanctions against the Islamic republic. In a report Thursday, the UN nuclear watchdog said Tehran had not halted uranium enrichment and said three years of probing had been unable to confirm "the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program" because of lack of cooperation from Tehran.
