Sri Lanka: Pro-rebel lawmaker killed in roadside blast, official says

A roadside bomb tore through the vehicle of a pro-rebel lawmaker as it drove through northern Sri Lanka on Thursday, killing the legislator and his driver, a party official said. K. Sivanesan was traveling through Mankulam, a village controlled by Tamil Tiger rebels, when his vehicle was hit by the blast, his party colleague and fellow lawmaker Suresh Premachandran said. Sivanesan was a member of Tamil National Alliance, a party long allied with the rebels.
