UN passes resolution proposed by Israel

In an unprecedented move Tuesday, the UN passed a resolution proposed by Israel unconnected with the Israeli-Arab conflict or the Holocaust. The resolution urges countries and NGOs to develop agricultural technology and improved crop strains for poor countries. Israel's ambassador to the UN Danny Gillerman said that the precedent-setting move proves that Israel is active in a number of projects separate from the Israeli-Palestinian issue and that it received international recognition for this. The resolution was approved unanimously and it followed three years of widespread diplomatic activity in the UN by the Foreign Ministry.
