US: Hamas must accept quartet conditions before we accept unity gov't

The United States insists that Hamas accept conditions set by the EU, UN, US and Russia, including denouncing violence and respecting agreements previously signed between the PLO and Israel, before Washington recognizes a Palestinian unity government, Israel Radio reported Thursday overnight. According to the radio station, the US also denied reports that Egyptian diplomats had tried to pressure the White House to soften their stance regarding the Islamic group.
