US nuclear envoy to meet with SKorean envoy on NKorean disarmament

The top US envoy at international negotiations to rid North Korea of nuclear weapons will meet Friday in New York City with his South Korean counterpart in disarmament talks. State Department spokesman Robert Wood told reporters Thursday that US Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill and South Korean envoy Kim Sook would be discussing the nuclear disarmament efforts. The talks come as the State Department's top Korea expert, Sung Kim, arrived Thursday in Beijing in a bid to advance efforts to verify North Korea's nuclear program declarations. North Korea blew up its nuclear reactor's cooling tower in June. But Washington says it would only remove the North from a US terror blacklist after Pyongyang has agreed to a full nuclear verification plan.
