Republican Senator Arlen Specter spoke of his support on Sunday evening for US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trip the Middle East in general and to Syria in particular, and called on the Bush administration to engage in talks with Syria, Israel Radio reported.
Speaking to CNN Specter said that "opening discussions with Syria are very important."
