Ahmadinejad, Assad discuss crisis in Lebanon

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad dismissed America's peace mediation in the ongoing Lebanon conflict because of Washington's support for Israel, his official Web site said on Sunday. "The United States, which has been supporting the Zionist regime until today, has no right to enter the crisis as a mediator," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying in a phone conversation with Syrian President Bashar Assad late Saturday. "They (the US) think that through the UN and the Security Council they can achieve the goals which they could not achieve militarily." According to the report, Assad said that the presence of international forces with extensive power in Lebanon would cause anarchy in the country.
