Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took his anti-US campaign to Nicaragua, where President Daniel Ortega will spend Sunday - his fourth day in office - building ties with yet another of Washington's biggest critics.
The visit is sure to irritate the US, which backed a guerrilla insurgency against Ortega's first government in the 1980s and is wary of efforts by Iran's hard-line government to spread its influence.
Ahmadinejad and Ortega were scheduled to meet later Sunday to discuss strengthening ties. It was part of Ahmadinejad's whirlwind tour of Latin America's newly inaugurated leftist leaders.
