A judge has denied bail for a Canadian man charged with allegedly trying to send nuclear technology to his native Iran.
Mahmoud Yadegari was arrested last month after a joint eight-week investigation conducted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the US Department of Homeland Security.
Judge Sheila Ray presided over Yadegari's bail hearing and on Monday denied his bid for release.
Authorities allege Yadegari, 35, tried to procure and export pressure transducers, which can be used in the production of enriched uranium.
The UN Security Council banned exports of nuclear-related technology to Iran in 2006 because of alleged efforts to build nuclear weapons.
Pressure transducers also have legitimate commercial uses.
