Iranian authorities have banned newspapers from advertising trips to the United States, an Iranian state-owned newspaper IRAN said Tuesday.
The report quoted an official in Iran's Culture Ministry, Ali Reza Karimi, as saying that the reason is that the United States is a "bullying and arrogant" power.
On Saturday, one of the top three Iranian newspapers, Hamshahri, carried a rare advertisement for a 22-day trip to the United States including stops in New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Honolulu.
The trip cost some $17,000 for each person.
Iran and the United States have had no diplomatic relations since Iranian students stormed the US embassy in Teheran in 1979 and took American diplomats hostages for a little over a year.
