Lieberman: Europe leaving Israel to deal with Iran

Strategic Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman said on Tuesday morning that it looked more and more as if Europe would leave Israel to deal with the Iranian nuclear threat on its own. "Winds of Chamberlain are blowing in Europe," he said in an interview with Army Radio, in which he addressed an article in Yediot Aharonot that said NATO leaders had told him Israel could not rely on the international community to prevent Iran's nuclear armament. "When I hear from a respected prime minister like [Italian Prime Minister] Romano Prodi that Israel should agree to a peaceful Iranian nuclear program, it seems like something surrealistic," he said. "The political situation is such that they are trying to turn this into our problem alone."
