Official: Iran has no information on missing American

Iran said Saturday that Teheran did not have any information about a former FBI agent who reportedly went missing while visiting a Persian Gulf island, the state-run news agency, IRNA, reported. Government spokesman Gholam-Hossein Elham made his comments as the man's wife, Christine Levinson, and her son were in Iran to try to find out information about Robert Levinson, who was last seen on Kish Island on March 8. Elham told reporters that the Iranian government had no information proving that Robert Levinson had gone missing while on a visit to the island, which is located off the coast of southern Iran. "If new information is given to us on this matter, we will follow up the case," Elham was quoted by IRNA as saying. Christine Levinson and her 22-year-old son, Daniel, arrived in Teheran on Tuesday to seek information about her husband, who was on Kish to investigate a cigarette smuggler for a client of his security firm.
