Israeli former Supreme Court president Asher Grunis was hospitalized after suffering a stroke on Tuesday evening, Israeli media reported.

Grunis's current health status is unknown.

He was appointed president of Israel's Supreme Court in 2012, before retiring in 2015 at age 70.

Currently, Grunis heads the Senior Appointments Advisory Committee, which in recent days has been examining the appointment of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's military secretary, Roman Gofman, as the incoming Mossad director.

MK Yair Golan sends Grunis well-wishes, praises judicial contribution

MK Yair Golan (Democrats) wished Grunis "a complete and speedy recovery" in a Tuesday evening post to X/Twitter.

"This is a highly respected jurist who contributed greatly to the judicial system and the rule of law in Israel," Golan's post read. "We all hope for a rapid improvement in his condition and are keeping our fingers crossed for him during these difficult hours."

This is a developing story.
